Rooibos Tea

The word “rooibos” translates as “red bush” from African languages. Rooibos is grown in the region of Western Cape province of South Africa. As with black and green tea, rooibos can undergo oxidation, or not. So, the fermented rooibos is usually reddish-brown in colour, and unoxidised rooibos is green, thus it is often referred to as “the green rooibos”. However, most rooibos leaves are actually fermented, hence the name meaning “red bush”. Rooibos is actually an infusion rather than a tea, as it does not contain any caffeine, and has low tannin levels. On the other hand, rooibos is extremely beneficial to your health because it contains a lot of vitamin C, in addition to antioxidants such as polyphenols. Fermented rooibos tea has a reddish liquor and a rich taste. It can be enjoyed with or without milk.

Bedford Tea offers you a good choice of Rooibos teas, most of them fermented. We can offer you natural Loose Leaf Rooibos tea, both in its original version and Organic Rooibos Tea, containing solely organic ingredients.

In addition, we have other variations of Rooibos tea
